Diode Laser Diode lasers are used for a number of trimming and contouring procedures on the soft tissue. An example would be where the gum has to trimmed to access a cavity that goes way underneath the tissue. The great thing about diode lasers, as with other lasers, is that there is remarkably little discomfort after the procedure and usually no need for stiches. The diode laser is not the laser of choice for treating gum disease, although some doctors use it for this purpose. For treating gum disease, see the information on the PerioLase in this section. The PerioLase is the only FDA approved laser method for treating gum disease. |
