Children's Services Not all dentists treat kids. Dr. Ward recommends parents bring in children during their second year for an exam and fluoride treatment to help head off any problems. It is very important to take care of the baby teeth. Not only do they allow your child to chew well, they serve and important function in getting the permanent teeth in. The best thing for kids is to start their dental care early to keep them from suffering from painful cavities or abcesses. It also gets them used to the dental environment so they won't be frightened when treatment may eventually be needed. Most young children can be successfully treated by Dr. Ward using only a gentle manner, distraction from the ceiling mounted televisions (and DVD), and light conscious sedation with nitrous oxide(laughing gas). |
